Sabinsa president and COO resigns

Much to the industry's surprise, Todd Norton, Sabinsa Corporation's long-time president and COO, resigned from his post on the first of April. This year the company is celebrating a 20-year anniversary; Norton was present for 14 of those years. "Todd served our company and the industry extremely well," said Shaheen Majeed, Marketing Director for Sabinsa.

Norton was promoted in 2000 from senior executive vice president to his most recent position where he was largely responsible for Sabinsa's day-to-day operations in New Jersey and Utah. During his tenure, Sabinsa's success grew largely because of the company's commitment to patented research and sourcing high quality ingredients for herbal extracts, cosmeceuticals and specialty ingredients.

Dr. Muhammed Majeed, Sabinsa's founder, will continue his role as chairman and CEO, and there will be no change in vision or strategic planning. At present no one has been chosen to take Norton's place, Shaheen said, and for the near term many others will collectively take up the many tasks assigned to Norton.

During the past decade, Sabinsa has introduced more than 50 standardized botanical extracts and privately funded numerous clinical studies. In February, Sabinsa established a 17,000 sq. ft. processing and distribution facility in Utah, allowing the company to be a full-service contract manufacturer. The organization also cultivates more than 40,000 acres of crops to ensure sustainable supplies of key products.
