Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. sadly announced the loss of John McLoughlin, their Sales Director of 11 years. McLoughlin, 69, of New Milford, CT, died on May 19, 2010, at at his residence. His career in the natural products industry began almost 30 years ago. His sales experience at Banner Pharmacaps proved to be an invaluable resource for his tenure at Soft Gel Technologies. He was beloved by both co-workers and customers.
“John was a true friend and an invaluable asset to our company,” said Steve Holtby, President and CEO of Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. “He treated everyone with respect and wasn’t afraid to share his sense of humor. Most importantly, he served as a mentor to those he worked with, especially within our Sales Department. We feel fortunate to have such a wonderful man be a part of our team. He will be sorely missed by all of us.”
“John was a tenacious salesperson, but he did it with kindness and finesse,” said Diane Hembree, Vice President, Sales Administration of Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. “I admired his work ethic and the way he’d foster relationships with every single person he met. Most of all, he was a long-time friend and co-worker. I will miss him.”
McLoughlin was born in New York City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of ManhattanCollege in New York City. Having New York roots shaped his choice of sport teams; he was an avid Giants and Yankees fan. He was proud of his Irish Catholic heritage, and had plans of becoming a priest until he met his wife, Margaret, known as “Gretta”. McLoughlin was a devoted father and grandfather, as well. He is survived by his wife, four children: Jennifer, Kevin, Michelle, and Danny, four grandchildren, and countless numbers of loving family, friends and associates in the U.S. and Ireland. He was predeceased by a son, Brendan. Services were held on May 21, 2010 at Our Lady of the LakesChurch, New Milford.
