AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands—Nutracon, the renowned conference for the functional foods industry, is coming to Europe in June where it premiers at the third annual Natural Products Expo Europe to be held here. Nutracon Europe is part of a diverse education programme to be presented at Expo Europe.
The three-hour Nutracon presentation features leading industry experts using case studies to focus on successfully marketing functional foods and beverages.
Marketing strategies will include presentations about category creation and leveraging hidden nutritional assets, in addition to the "four factors analysis system." Case studies will include Danone Actimel, Red Bull, Tropicana, General Mills and others.
Other sessions will offer advice on how to enter the European marketplace, discussions on the soy foods market, the science behind growing organic food and how GMOs affect natural products. Other regulatory issues to be discussed include a debate on the safety of vitamins and minerals, a controversial topic in light of new European legislation.
Expo Europe will feature a dedicated functional foods section on the exhibition floor, and this year there will be a focus on ingredients so visitors can shop the whole supply chain from source to finished product. In addition, there will be a VIP manufacturers' club lounge and an exhibitor-presented seminar theatre. Other industry sectors represented include organic and natural foods, natural bodycare and dietary supplements.
