Pharmachem aloe vera powders now GRAS

Pharmachem Laboratories Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary, Improve USA, has announced the self-affirmed GRAS status of its decolorized inner gel and whole aloe leaf powder products. The powder products were determined GRAS as described in the finalized dossier and reviewed by an independent expert panel qualified with the relevant scientific training and experience. The aloe powders are accorded all the rights and privileges described in the law and regulations regarding GRAS self-affirmation.

Peter Hafermann, president of Improve USA, explains, “Aloe vera has been used in topical preparations for years, and its benefits as a soothing moisturizer are well known. More recently, aloe vera has become popular for oral use in dietary supplement applications in tablets, capsules and beverages.

He adds that now, "our Industry is showing interest in including aloe vera in food systems. The GRAS status of our ingredients allows our customers to include our aloe vera powders as food ingredients in their products, including, but not limited to: fruit juices, baked goods, teas, meal replacements, protein based products, just to name a few.”

Aloe vera has a strong history of use worldwide and demand for GRAS Aloe vera is met by Improve USA via three cGMP manufacturing facilities. Sales and warehousing support is provided by offices and staff located in Anaheim, Calif.
