nbj: How did you get started on this quest?

Laufer: My wife brought home a bag of Trader Joe’s walnuts labeled “organic.” She believes in the stuff, and I believe in her, and so our grocery bill is doubled. These were rancid. Those things happen in grocery, and Trader Joe’s has a great guarantee. You can bring stuff back even if you just don’t like the taste of it.
