Adulterated Herb Recalled
SACRAMENTO, Calif.An herbal supplement imported from China and found to contain the prescription drug chlordiazepoxide (Librium) is being recalled nationwide by NuMeridian, its U.S. distributor. The supplement, Anso Comfort, is marketed to treat a variety of illnesses including high blood pressure and high cholesterol. According to the California Department of Health, located here, the drug is used to treat anxiety or as a sedative, and adds to the effects of alcohol and other central nervous system depressants.
