DENVERWith a goal of "making good science available to everyone," the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced in late January it will join an industry effort to peer validate and publish methods to analyze the marker compounds of botanical ingredients used in dietary supplements.
"We are extremely pleased to have the FDA join in this effort," says Mark Lange, science director of the Institute for Nutraceutical Advancement (INA), a non-profit arm of Industrial Laboratories, based here.
The INA's Methods Validation Program (MVP) aims to ensure consistency of raw materials for 15 widely used herbs of commerce. It is funded by 30 industry members. New Hope Communications is official media sponsor of the INA MVP.
