U.S.-EU Accord May Change Rules
Cincinnati, OhioAn attempt to harmonize the regulatory framework for vitamin and mineral supplements on both sides of the Atlantic may result in restricting daily intake levels and upgrading manufacturing processes to pharmaceutical-grade. More than 120 industry leaders from the United States and Europe hashed out proposals at the sixth meeting of the TransAtlantic Business Dialogue, held here Nov. 16-18. The group wants to establish uniform label claims, safe upper intake levels, and common manufacturing and quality standards.
