Vitamin & Mineral, Herb & Supplement Sales Statistics
Vitamin and mineral sales increased by 3.6 percent overall from July to September 1998, while herbs and supplements such as ginkgo and glucosamine checked in with 12.8 percent growth. During this time three supplements in particular experienced remarkable sales growth: chondroitin, 71 percent; calcium, 39 percent; and vitamin B12, 38 percent.
These results are gleaned from the Bellevue, Wash.-based Hartman Group's "Natural Product Census Supplement Report," a survey of more than 18,000 randomly sampled U.S. consumers.
