Bayer Partners with Indena

West Haven, Conn.—Mainstream drug and OTC-giant Bayer Corp., located here, signed a licensing agreement with Indena, an Italian natural products manufacturer, that gives Bayer rights to a new Indena anticancer compound. Called IDN 5109, the compound is a semisynthetic substance derived from a species of the yew tree (Taxus wallachiana). Indena will extract and produce the compound, and Bayer will see it through clinical development and commercialization.
