NSN's Commitment to Education

I often hear radio ads for university night courses and my response is always the same—visceral and immediate. I think, "Night courses? Who needs night courses when every day is an education?" That is the beauty and, for me at least, the lure of the natural products industry. There is something to learn at every juncture, be it a new herb or yet another use for a vitamin or mineral. I still remember my early days when I walked out of work, my head spinning with new information and my heart elated by how quickly the day had passed. I love to learn. And for those of you who are like me, opportunities abound in our field. After seven years there is still so much more I want to know.

Which, naturally, brings me around to Nutrition Science News. By the simple fact that it's a magazine intended to educate and inform, there is a lot of room to learn and grow. Through the years we've tried to develop even more learning opportunities for our readers. As a trade professional, you receive NSN for yourself and your coworkers; if you're a retailer or health provider, you buy Health & Nutrition Breakthroughs for your customers and patients. You can even order our Health Knowledge Center to display reprints of your favorite articles. If you're interested in an accredited certification program, we offer continuing education (CE) credit for pharmacists and retailers. And, of course, the Natural Products Expos held twice a year expand your mind even more.

Along with the breadth of educational opportunities we offer, we take pride in the quality and depth we deliver. To put it plainly, we have integrity. You will never find a biased article or CE module in our magazines.

Although NSN depends on advertising, we will never slant an article to favor it. If research shows bad results, we'll print it. If a study isn't sound, we'll question it. We're here to give both our readers and our advertisers a magazine to rely on. The same holds true for our CE modules that are supported by unrestricted grants from companies dedicated to education. These sponsors have no say in the content of a module.

Providing unbiased, dependable information is definitely a motivating factor for us here at NSN. And I have a feeling it must be for you, too, or you wouldn't be reading this. With so many opportunities for higher learning right here in our own industry, who needs night school?
