Glucosamine for Footballers
The results of a recent survey of 1,000 professional athletic trainers revealed that nine in 10 athletic trainers received reports of improved joint function from athletes who used glucosamine supplements. The survey was commissioned by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in cooperation with McNeil Consumer Healthcare, manufacturer of Tylenol and Aflexa (glucosamine sulfate).
In a related survey among a smaller sampling of professional football athletic trainers, players using glucosamine supplements reported benefits in three main areas: knees, shoulders, and ankles.
