| Vitamin C |
300 mg three times/day* |
| Zinc |
15-25 mg* |
Herbs
- Milk thistle (standardized on silymarin content); take the amount that will deliver 420 mg silymarin/day.
- A terpene mixture like Rowachol as prescribed by a health care practitioner or 1-2 capsules enteric-coated peppermint oil, three times/day between meals.
- Cholagogue/choleretic herbal combination (e.g., dandelion root, burdock) tincture: 30-45 drops three times/day; tea: 1-3 teaspoons dried herb per cup boiling water (simmer root herbs or steep leafy herbs for 10-15 minutes), 2-3 cups/day.
* These doses can be doubled for the first month and then reduced to the listed doses.
# A mixed carotenoid supplement is safer than vitamin A, particularly for women of childbearing age because of the risk of birth defects caused by excess vitamin A.
Advise customers to consult with their health care practitioner before undertaking any nutritional or herbal regimen if they are pregnant, nursing or have a serious illness.
