Aker unveils new claims, markets & partnership at Vitafoods

Aker BioMarine, a leading supplier of krill-derived products to the consumer health and wellness and animal nutrition markets, will be exhibiting at Booth J68 at the Vitafoods show in Geneva, Switzerland (May 5 to 7). During the show, company representatives will be onsite to discuss several new developments as well as a new partnership between key academia, scientists and nongovernment organizations (NGOs) operating in Antarctica.

Antarctic Wildlife Research Fund (AWR) makes European debut at Vitafoods
Aker BioMarine is proud to announce its commitment to the Antarctic Wildlife Research Fund (AWR), a first-of-its-kind partnership between key academia, scientists and NGOs operating in Antarctica. Established earlier this year by The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Norway), The Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC) and Aker BioMarine Antarctic AS, the goal of the AWR is to better understand the marine ecosystem in Antarctica and to learn more about krill's vital role. Leading business groups like Aker BioMarine will help to raise significant funds for this research and a Science Advisory Group will evaluate and prioritize scientific research proposals. For more information, visit antarcticfund.org.

As part of this NGO's debut in Europe, Aker BioMarine is leading a FREE informational seminar (Tuesday, May 5, 12:15 to 12:45 pm) in the Exhibitor Presentation Theater. Dr Phil Trathan, Head of Conservation Ecology, British Antarctic Survey, and Marte Haabeth Grindaker, Secretary, Board of the Antarctic Wildlife Research Fund will discuss:

  • Introduction to the groundbreaking Antarctic Wildlife Research Fund

  • Scientific research plan and proposal opportunities

  • Consumer engagement program through commercial partnerships

Aker's new krill innovations commercially available in key European markets
From oil to gummies to emulsions, SuperbaTM Krill is finding its way into many new delivery formats. In fact, after months of collaboration with dedicated manufacturers, Aker BioMarine has commercially launched its krill innovations in several markets throughout Europe. The new Superba Krill Oil gummy bear product is rich in phospholipid omega-3s EPA and DHA. A serving (two gummy bears) is equivalent to a 300 mg Superba Krill soft gel. Aker BioMarine's other innovation is a krill emulsion, which has been commercialized as a kids product in the UK. Learn more about these and other innovations at Booth J68.

Superba Krill's claims confirmed in the EU
It is essential for companies to properly label and promote ingredients and product claims. To that end, Aker BioMarine has proactively enlisted a third party in Europe to review all of the relevant claims for labeling and advertising products containing Superba Krill. This new legal opinion specifies several claims, including general, scientific and nutrition based claims. Learn more about the specific claims you can make using Superba Krill at Booth J68.
