Enzymotec develops krill quality parameters

Enzymotec presents once again a breakthrough in krill oil quality standards, by applying a new set of biological quality parameters for krill oil evaluation.

The quality parameters used today for measuring krill oils are mainly chemical parameters that are tested during shelf life. However, those parameters do not refer to the changes in krill oil's biological activity after consumption. Enzymotec defines for the first time quality parameters that test krill oil through the entire supply chain, from its harvesting until it reaches the digestion system. By using a simulation model for measuring the biochemical quality of the krill oil in the digestion system, Enzymotec sets biological quality parameters to be used on top of the standard ones.

All leading krill oil brands sold today were tested in this quality model and it was found that the only krill oil succeeding to meet these quality parameters is Enzymotec's krill oil.

"This scientific breakthrough indicates once again Enzymotec's persistence to bring highest quality and safety standards to the krill oil industry" says Dr. Ariel Katz, president and chief executive officer of Enzymotec Ltd.

K·REAL® krill oil is manufactured through a specialized and proprietary technology called Multi Stage Oil extraction (MSO®) developed by Enzymotec. This technology assures high quality oil and superior organoleptic properties compared to other commercial available products.

Enzymotec guarantees that all krill biomass used for the manufacturing of its KREAL krill oil, is supplied only from vessels and facilities monitored by members of CCAMLR and are also certified by Friends of the Sea (FOS). Enzymotec krill oil products are manufactured only for human consumption by using a negligible percentage from the permitted harvesting quota for krill approved by CCAMLR.
