Albion adds Lönnerdal to new scientific advisory board

Albion introduced the addition of Dr. Bo Lönnerdal to its newly formed scientific advisory board earlier this month. Dr. Lonnerdal received his master’s and doctorate degrees in biochemistry from University of Uppsala in Sweden. As an active member in the pediatric nutrition program, Dr. Lonnerdal has dedicated the last 33 years as a professor at the University of California, Davis.

Dr. Lönnerdal’s research has focused on iron and zinc micronutrients. With extensive collaboration projects in Bangladesh, China and Sweden, his interest has been applied specifically to how bioactive components are used in breast milk by an infant for protection against infection.

Dr. Lönnerdal has published more than 500 scientific articles, book chapters and books and is currently a member of the American Society of Nutrition (ASN), the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and the International Society for Research on Human Milk and Lactation (ISRHML).

Dr. Lonnerdal is the sixth member of Albion’s Scientific Advisory Board. Established to help further Albion’s commitment to innovation in the advancement of mineral applications, the board consists of top educators, scientists and physicians with a wide variety of knowledge and expertise in mineral nutrition,
