The Chia Co hires chief sales officer

McGuckin joins The Chia Co following an eight-year position as executive vice president of sales for USA and Canada at Sabra Dipping Co.

The Chia Company announced the appointment of a new chief sales officer, John McGuckin. McGuckin joins The Chia Co following an eight-year position as executive vice president of sales for USA and Canada at Sabra Dipping Co., a joint venture of PepsiCo and Strauss Group.

This appointment reflects the continued growth of The Chia Co, which has seen a revenue increase of 237 percent in the past two years and has established a significant global presence from its offices in Melbourne, London and New York.

John Foss, founder and CEO of The Chia Co, says he is excited about the appointment and looks forward to seeing McGuckin continue to build momentum for the company. “We believe there is no better person in the world than John McGuckin to further accelerate our more than 100 percent year-on-year growth, whilst ensuring that our key customers remain the central and absolute focus of our company,” he said. “Most importantly for us, John shares the core values of economic, environmental and social sustainability that I founded The Chia Co with 10 years ago.”

During his time at Sabra, McGuckin is credited with building a world leading sales team and increasing revenue for the company from $20 million to $500 million over eight years. Having recently launched the Obela brand into the Australian market, McGuckin brings to The Chia Co a wealth of experience in the US and Canadian markets as well as their home market, Australia.

McGuckin says he believes strongly in the bright future of The Chia Co and that the potential for innovation via the Chia Pod brand was an important factor for him in joining the team. “I knew that the chia category and Chia Pods were hot before I accepted the role, but since going public with the decision I’ve discovered they are on fire!“ he said. “I am excited to be joining this innovative, fast growing brand in what promises to be a highly rewarding and successful position.”
