James Edward Duffy, director of the Flavor Applications Labs at Comax Flavors, recently earned the notable designation of Certified Food Scientist (CFS). This credential is a formal global certification program, administered by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) and their International Food Science Certification Commission.
Duffy has extensive experience in the food science field. Prior to joining Comax Flavors over 18 years ago, he had a proven track record of accomplishments as a manager of food science and director of applications. Today, he uses his capabilities to ensure that Comax Flavors remains at the forefront of flavor applications.
Duffy and the CFS inaugural class will be recognized at this year's IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo in Chicago in July. "It is a significant honor to be recognized in today's challenging food science profession," stated Duffy. "This field continues to advance forward and certifications such as this will help identify qualified professionals who are on top of the latest developments."
The goal of the CFS certification is to recognize the practical knowledge and current real-world skills necessary in the field. To maintain the CFS status, certificants must complete 75 contact hours of professional development every five years.
