Dick Griffin joins NFP Property and Casualty Services

R.M. Dick Griffin, formerly with the leading dietary supplement insurance agency, Grifcon Enterprises, and commercial lines insurance broker for over 50 years, has joined with NFP Property and Casualty Services, Inc. as an insurance consultant.

In his new role, Griffin will work directly with clients and continue to support industry associations providing a wide range of insurance coverage for the dietary supplement and life sciences industries. Coverages will include commercial lines property and liability, workers compensation and life and health benefits.

In 1996, Griffin formed the National Products Liability Insurance program for the U.S. dietary supplement industry. He has been credited with the tremendous benefits that his programs have created for the supplement industry.

Griffin’s outstanding industry contributions resulted in AHPA presenting its annual Herbal Hero Award during its annual member meeting and breakfast held last March at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, Calif., in recognition of the tremendous benefits that his insurance programs provided to the dietary supplement industry.

James Prochnow, a shareholder at the law firm of Greenberg Traurig, presented the award saying that Griffin "is truly one of the pioneers in developing product liability insurance for the dietary supplement industry."

“Griffin’s programs helped attract more insurance markets willing to insure supplement companies and provided a high level of service to those companies by providing quick access for product liability at drastically reduce premium costs,” said Sheldon Baker, vice president strategic engagement for the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA).

“Griffin and his partners established override programs and sponsorships for the benefit of supplement industry associations and its members that over an 18-year period have exceeded more than $3 million,” added Baker.

“Through NFP, both comprehensive coverage and competitive pricing can be tailored to the requirements of each insured company,” notes Griffin.
