The Natural Products Association bestowed the NPA 2013 Clinician Award on Herbalist & Alchemist founder and formulator David Winston RH (AHG) at a ceremony in Baltimore held in conjunction with Natural Products Expo East.

The NPA awards program recognizes outstanding individuals and businesses that have made valuable contributions to the success of the natural products industry. NPA’s Clinician Award is presented to health care practitioners whose work exemplifies the best standards and dedication to responsible holistic, noninvasive and integrative, complementary and alternative medicine modalities.

David Winston, an herbalist and ethnobotanist with over 40 years of training in Cherokee, Chinese and Western herbal traditions, has been in clinical practice for nearly 40 years. Winston is the founder/director of the Herbal Therapeutics Research Library and the dean of David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies, a two-year training program in clinical herbal medicine. This world-renowned herbal studies program has been educating herbalists, physicians, nurses, naturopathic physicians, veterinarians, and nutritionists in the art and science of clinical herbal medicine for over 25 years. He is an internationally known lecturer and author, and frequently teaches at medical schools, symposia and herb conferences. In addition, Winston is a founding/professional member of the American Herbalists Guild where he has served four terms on the Board of Directors. He also is on the American Botanical Council's Advisory Board, and is an herbal consultant to physicians, herbalists and researchers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
