Cargill to unveil innovative new form of plant sterols at Food Ingredients Europe 2007 in London

MINNEAPOLIS - Cargill will premiere CoroWise™ ES101 plant sterols - its latest innovative food ingredient - during Food Ingredients Europe (FiE), to be held Oct. 30 through Nov. 1, 2007 in London. The new CoroWise™ ES101 free plant sterol powder is easier to use and requires less processing than steryl esters. It also has a higher concentration of heart-healthy, cholesterol-reducing plant sterols than any other steryl esters instant version, with no impact on food flavour.

Cargill will showcase this new form of CoroWise™ plant sterols in a prototype acid dairy drink at its FiE stand F61. "We are excited to bring this new ingredient to the European market and believe that CoroWise™ ES101 is an optimal solution for food and beverage manufacturers who want to deliver cholesterol-reducing products to consumers." said Olivier Duchatelier, sales director, Cargill Health & Nutrition, EMEA.

Cargill will also highlight two of its other forward-thinking, heart-healthy ingredients: Omega 3s and Barliv™ barley betafiber. Preliminary development studies show that up to 150 mg of Cargill's Omega 3 ingredient per serving can be added to products with no discernible change in flavor or shelf life. Barliv™ barley betafiber, currently in development, is a low-viscosity, high-purity barley beta glucan and has been clinically shown to reduce cholesterol.

On other areas of Cargill's stand, technical and marketing experts will be available to share insights and expertise on how Cargill partners with its customers to help them develop differentiated new products or enhance existing brands in the beverages, bakery, confectionery, dairy and savoury and meat categories. Cargill is utilizing its consumer insight, regulatory and scientific expertise to develop and market products that help customers capitalize on the growing demand for healthier consumer packaged goods. The company provides ingredient solutions relevant to some of today's most pressing health concerns, including heart health, digestive health and general wellness. Products are also being developed that may provide health benefits in relation to diabetes and obesity.

Cargill's booth will be organised by category with prototypes for sampling in each area. Visit www.cargillhft.com and www.corowise.com for further information.
