EAS to talk PARNUTS and more at FiE

International regulatory and policy consultancy EAS Strategic Advice will offer presentations on the challenges and opportunities of the EU Novel Foods Regulation, a regulatory overview of Fortified Foods in the EU, a snapshot of the future regulatory framework of foods for particular nutritional uses and an analysis of where we stand with the Regulation on nutrition and health claims in the EU, at this year’s Food Ingredients Europe event Nov. 19 to 21 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Experts from EAS Strategic advice will lead four 30-minute free-to-attend organized seminars, in the Industry Insights Theatre of FiE.

On Nov. 19, EAS Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Manager Efi Leontopoulou will present on the EU Novel Foods Regulation giving companies a vision of the opportunities and challenges across the region analysing what is novel and what is not. Efi will also be giving an overview of the EU legislation covering foods with added nutrients and certain other substances, highlighting some of the key regulatory developments underway and national approaches.

On Nov. 20, EAS Food Law Manager Elodie Lebastard will offer attendees an informative overview of the future regulatory framework of foods for particular nutritional uses (PARNUTS or dietetic foods) in the EU. The day will be rounded off with a useful guidance to where we stand with the Regulation on nutrition and health claims in the EU.

“Participants will receive an overview of permitted ingredients and related health claims for functional foods, addressing the existing harmonised legislation and highlighting the main challenges when a novel food concern is raised,” highlighted Leontopoulou.

“The main changes with the revision of the PARNUTS framework legislation will drastically impact the EU market of specific categories such as sports foods and slimming products by sharper defining the scope of foods for particular nutritional uses. We will highlight the challenges and opportunities of these changes and analyse the impact on the main current PARNUTS categories,” explained Lebastard.

Food Ingredients Europe is an opportunity to source the latest and most innovative ingredients, grow your business in one of the fastest expanding markets and nurture business relationships by meeting with the most important ingredients suppliers and buyers in the region.
