For 20 years, DSHEA has produced a regulatory framework for innovation of safe and effective products. It's even been amended twice - in 2006 with the Adverse Events Reporting law, and again in 2011 with the Food Safety Modernization Act. With the New York-based botanical adulteration scandal that has rocked the herbal industry over the past couple weeks, is it time for something more? We ask the Council for Responsible Nutrition's president/CEO Steve Mister his considered opinion.
