SupplySide West seminar debunks weight loss myths

Herbal pharmacist David Foreman will discuss "Debunking the Magic Pill and Other Myths About Weight Loss" during a VendorBrief seminar sponsored by Pharmachem Laboratories.

Herbal pharmacist David Foreman will discuss "Debunking the Magic Pill and Other Myths About Weight Loss" during a VendorBrief seminar sponsored by Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1:30 to 2:20 p.m. on the show floor booth 39089.

Foreman will explain why obesity is considered to be the top global health crisis, and the role of carbohydrate ingestion in weight gain. A new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine showed that after a year, the low-carbohydrate diet group lost nearly eight pounds more on average than those following a low-fat diet. In addition, the carb-restricted group exhibited greater body fat reduction and improvements in lean muscle mass than the low-fat diet group.

The challenge, according to Foreman “is that another recent Gallup poll showed that people still think "low fat" over "low carbs."

Foreman will help identify the often hidden, highly refined foods that are causing weight gain, and provide other tips for effective weight management, including exercise, diet and supplementation.

In addition, Foreman will enlighten attendees about the differences between unproven but theoretical fad ingredients versus those ingredients that are proven, precisely, in clinical settings, and discuss how safe, effective formulas may be marketed with terminology acceptable to both the FDA and FTC.

Pharmachem Laboratories will be exhibiting at booth 26109.
