According to a study in the Journal of Clinical Interventions in Aging, (Schwartz, S. R., & Park, J. (2012),7, 267–273) women who took an oral collagen showed significant reduction in skin dryness/scaling (76 percent) as well as reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (13.2 percent), as compared to baseline levels. The study sampled 26 women aged 35 to 59 who had visible signs of natural and photoaging and ingested 1g daily of BioCell Collagen® for 12 weeks.
“These findings prove that collagen’s multilayered mechanisms of action have been shown to synergistically antagonize the skin’s aging process and promote younger-looking appearance with better hydration, higher collagen content, reduced wrinkle counts and shallower line depth,” says Heather Hausenblas, Ph.D., of the University of Florida College of Health and Human Performance. “The women who participated in the study had a remarkable improvement in skin texture together with hydration, reduced scaling, and improved blood microcirculation. BioCell Collagen supplementation significantly reduced the visible signs of aging.”
Hausenblas also conducted her own study, which was presented at the Resveratrol and Health Conference in Denmark in 2010. Her research examined the effects of Reserveage Organics Collagen Booster and found that after six months of supplementation, facial scan analyses showed improvements in women’s pores, skin tone and ultraviolet spots. Eighty-three percent of the women reported positive changes in their skin. They reported softer skin, improved skin tone and lighter age spots.
