Frutarom's New Osteo-Life(TM) Clinically Proven To Imhibit Bone Resorption and Promote Bone Formation

North Bergen, New Jersey, March 10, 2008 -- Laurent Leduc, Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Frutarom USA Inc. Flavor Division, announces the availability of a new blend of Osteo-Life™. The product will be introduced at Frutarom’s Booth, #656, at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, California, March 14-16, 2008.

“The new Osteo-Life™ blend was inspired by the recent findings of OPUS study (Osteoporosis Prevention Using Soy), the two year, 400 patient double blind placebo, government sponsored study, that clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of soy germ isoflavones in promoting bone health,” explained Mr. Leduc.

Osteo-Life™ is a proprietary blend of Frutarom’s SoyLife®, calcium carbonate and Vitamin D. While calcium carbonate and Vitamin D have long been known to promote bone health, the OPUS study demonstrated that soy germ may also protect against bone loss in aging adults, about half of whom are likely to suffer a fracture due to osteoporosis during their lifetime. While the risk group is less in men, about one-third, bone loss is also a serious concern for adult males.

It was pointed out that the OPUS study validated a body of previous research that identified a link between better bone health and soy isoflavones, even in so far as understanding the influence of equol, a daidzein metabolite that has been found to be more biologically active than other isoflavones.

Mr. Leduc explained, “The basic SoyLife formulation, a key component in the new Osteo-Life™ blend, has over 50% daidzin/daidzein content. In developing the new Osteo-Life™, we also considered OPUS findings that included the study of 400 patients who showed an increase in bone mass density over two years. We created a blend that reflects the exact dosage used by the group showing the highest results.”

Mr. Leduc summed it up by reporting that the evidence strongly suggests that soy germ isoflavones help maintain Bone Mineral Density (BMD) and Bone Mineral Content (BMC) in adults as they age. Soy germ isoflavones may promote bone health through both hormonal and non-hormonal effects. Particularly, daidzin/daidzein inhibits bone resorption and promotes bone formation. He reiterated that since SoyLife has a high daidzein content and is a primary component of Osteo-Life™, it may well provide greater benefits. He added that several studies have demonstrated that SoyLife effectively promotes bone health.
