The Natural Products Association (NPA) has announced that Frank Lampe, director of communications for the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), is one of four recipients of the organization's 18th annual "Industry Champion" awards. The annual award is presented to individuals who have made notable contributions to the natural products industry above and beyond commercial success.
This year's NPA award winners will be honored at the Natural Products Association Marketplace in Las Vegas, Nev., June 23-25. NPA is the nation's largest and oldest non-profit organization dedicated to the natural products industry. AHPA is the national trade association for the herbal and botanical products industry.
Lampe received the prestigious award for his more than 22 years of service to healthy-living media. NPA's award announcement describes Lampe as "a pioneer in the U.S. 'Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability' (LOHAS) market, where he helped identify and quantify the marketplace and oversaw the first research on the LOHAS consumer." In 1996, Lampe co-founded the publishing firm Natural Business Communications that launched the groundbreaking LOHAS Journal. Prior to that, he served as editor of Natural Foods Merchandiser and as editorial director at New Hope Natural Media. Most recently, Lampe was executive vice president of InnoVision Health Media.
"I'm honored to receive this recognition from the Natural Products Association," Lampe says. "This industry is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others through the promotion of holistic health and well being, and I count myself fortunate to have been a part of that for so many years, working alongside committed colleagues and coworkers."
During his tenure at New Hope Natural Media, Lampe actively lobbied for industry legislative interests both in Washington and at rallies held at industry trade shows that aimed to inform and educate trade members about upcoming legislation that could affect their business in natural products. Additionally, Lampe has served on the boards of the Natural Products Foundation, the Natural Publishers Association, the Socially Responsible Business Awards, and the Natural Products Quality Assurance Alliance.
"It is truly satisfying to see Frank acknowledged as the leader that so many of his colleagues have already recognized," says Michael McGuffin, AHPA's president. "This award from NPA is well deserved and is an indication of the mutual regard and excellent cooperation that exists between our associations.
According to NPA's announcement, "The NPA Awards celebrate people and companies who inspire with their accomplishments and innovation, as well as their support of the natural products industry in America."
