American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) President Michael McGuffin has been selected as the winner of the Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) 2011 Efforts on Behalf of the Industry Award. The award will be presented at the 2012 NBJ Summit in Dana Point, Calif., July 24 to 27.
The NBJ Business Achievement Awards provide annual recognition of industry's brightest stars and key players as they broaden the impact and reputation of nutrition as a true steward of health and wellness, according to Marc Brush, NBJ editor in chief.
McGuffin was chosen from more than 215 nominations submitted by the general public, as well as nominations from NBJ's editorial advisory board and the content team at New Hope Natural Media, which publishes NBJ. The vetting process included review by NBJ staff, New Hope's advisory board, and the New Hope standards team.
"I am honored and humbled by this announcement," McGuffin said. "The award is the culmination of and reflects the 30 years of service that AHPA has provided the natural products industry. In many ways, it represents the dedication and 'efforts on behalf of the industry' of the AHPA staff, board of trustees, committees, and general membership. I'd like to thank the folks at New Hope for this great honor."
According to NBJ's website, "Nutrition Business Journal is the publication of record for the nutrition, natural, organic, dietary supplement, and integrative medicine industries. Through a portfolio of media products, including a monthly executive journal and in-depth research reports, NBJ supplies authoritative data and analysis to leaders and decision makers in the business of nutrition."
