Antioxidant Intake and Alzheimer Disease

A JAMA article (Journal of the American Medical Association - Vol. 287 No. 24, June 26, 2002), discussing "Dietary Intake of Antioxidants and Risk of Alzheimer Disease " suggests that oxidative stress may contribute to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease and that the risk of the disease might be reduced by intake of antioxidants counteracting the oxidative stress.

The published results were based on laboratory studies in the Netherlands involving over 5000 participants.
