Archer Daniels Midland Company Subsidiary to Acquire United Kingdom Flour Mills

ADM Milling Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company (“ADM”), has, subject to U.K. regulatory approval, agreed to acquire six flour mills in the U.K. from Associated British Foods plc. The mills, located in Castleford, Corby, Edinburgh, Knottingley, Liverpool and Tewkesbury, generated revenues of approximately $150 million for calendar year 2002 through September 14, 2002.

ADM currently operates flour mills in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. “We’re very pleased with the opportunity to strengthen our base in the U.K. with the addition of these six mills,” stated Paul B. Mulhollem, ADM President and Chief Operating Officer.
