Bacopa monnieri Compound from BACOGNIZE Extract Found Highly Active at Serotonin Receptor

Noblesville, IN., USA, June 2nd, 2008 – A compound from BACOGNIZE® Extract, derived from Bacopa monnieri, has been shown as significantly active at binding sites of human serotonin receptors. These receptors are known to play a large role in regulating cognition and other neurological pathways such as acetylcholine and GABA, contributing to an overall cognitive enhancing effect.

BACOGNIZE® Extract is standardized using the non-specific ultraviolet spectrometry method for ‘total bacosides’ used by most Bacopa extracts. However, since UV does not detect individual compounds, a HPLC-standardization must be used as well to pinpoint this unique, highly active compound controlled within a specific, clinically researched ratio of other Bacopa-unique compounds. This level of control ensures people receive the clinically researched levels of the exact compounds researched for BACOGNIZE’s cognition-enhancing activity.

Reporting recent clinical news, where a subpopulation of baby boomers taking BACOGNIZE® Extract reported beneficial effects for their cognition. In addition to a prior clinical study on young adults indicating BACOGNIZE® Extract contributed benefits for memory and focus, a recent human study performed by researchers at a U.S. University indicated a random group of older adults reported tangible benefits to their mood, memory and focus after taking BACOGNIZE® Extract.

BACOGNIZE®, a proprietary extract from 100% Bacopa monnieri, is manufactured at Verdure Sciences’ ISO-9000:2001, HACCP, botanicals-only facility; is supported by its own clinical, safety and natural phytochemical profiles; is Kosher- and Halal-certified and GMO-free.
