Barry Callebaut, a global company that manufactures cocoa and chocolate products, plans to invest $31m in the next few months to expand and upgrade its existing facilities across Europe.
Barry Callebaut Western Europe President Massimo Garavaglia said: "With the planned investments, we will strengthen our industrial footprint in Western Europe, the company's largest business region. We are also investing in our network of Chocolate Academies to support the further growth of our Gourmet business."
Barry Callebaut is extending its chocolate molding capacities by developing a new line at Banbury in the UK and at Meulan in France. In addition, the company is also upgrading its Banbury chocolate plant with the latest technology.
To speed up the expansion of its Gourmet & Specialties Products business, Barry Callebaut will develop a new Callebaut Chocolate Academy at Wieze in Belgium and is revamping its Cacao Barry Chocolate Academy in Meulan, France, the report said.
At its specialty and decorations facility at Zundert in the Netherlands, the company plans to set up a new center of competence for chocolate decorations. It already has a chocolate academy at Zundert.
