Bergstrom Nutrition and Glanbia Nutritionals will feature a prototype of an exercise recovery and joint support protein powder at SupplySide West (SSW). The prototype, featuring OptiMSM® and a revolutionary new bioactive called PepForm® BCAA 2:1:1 Peptides, will be distributed at Bergstrom Nutrition’s booth 19017 at SSW, November 7-8, in Las Vegas.
“We want to return consumers to their active lifestyles faster, by speeding up recovery and abating muscle soreness. While the advantages of physical activity are clear, OptiMSM can support joint, muscle and overall health if any discomfort results,” said Tim Hammond, director of sales and strategic relations for Bergstrom Nutrition. “We thank the innovative team at Glanbia for their invaluable assistance in the development of this functional protein powder.”
Bergstrom Nutrition, producer of OptiMSM—the world’s only GRAS-designated proprietary and patented MSM (methylsulfonylmethane)—initiated human studies to evaluate the potential benefits of OptiMSM on exercise recovery and performance. These results, recently published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, support MSM’s positive effects on exercise recovery. These benefits are further supported by two recently published exercise recovery studies on MSM’s efficacy in healthy adult males.
“Research is indicating a trend toward reduction in muscle soreness, significant increase in Trolox Equivalent Antioxidant Capacity (TEAC), increased plasma antioxidant capacity and subsequent decrease in muscle damage when supplementing with MSM,” said Rod Benjamin, director of technical development for Bergstrom Nutrition. “These benefits combined with Glanbia’s PepForm®—which offers shortened recovery time and improved delivery and utilization of amino acids—provided us with a perfect vehicle to highlight OptiMSM’s effect on exercise recovery. “
Samples of the prototype will be available at the Bergstrom Nutrition/OptiMSM SSW Booth 19017 and the Glanbia Nutritionals SSW Booth 20055.
