The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) announced that New York Times bestselling author and well-known political analyst for TIME, Mark Halperin, will be a featured speaker at The Conference, CRN’s annual symposium for the dietary supplement industry. The Conference takes place September 29 – October 2 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa outside Austin, Texas.
As the closing speaker at The Conference, Mr. Halperin will provide his thoughts on the upcoming midterm elections and how any shifts in power may affect the dietary supplement industry in the next Congress. He will also share his recollections of the 2008 presidential campaign as well as his general thoughts on the state of politics and how it affects businesses.
“Mark Halperin is one of the premiere political analysts in the media. His fresh reporting, unparalleled access to political and thought leaders and his extensive knowledge of the political landscape make him one of the most sought after speakers on the circuit,” said Steve Mister, president and CEO, CRN. “The 2008 presidential election was the most closely followed election in U.S. history and Mark had a front row seat for all the action. His presentation will be a ‘can’t miss’ opportunity for conference attendees. I can’t think of any better way to end The Conference.”
As editor-at-large and senior political analyst for TIME, Mr. Halperin covered the presidential election of 2008. From this coverage came his must-read tome, Game Change, which has held both the #1 bestseller in books on Amazon.com and #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List for non-fiction. His riveting account offers readers a unique perspective on the historic campaigns of then-Senator Barrack Obama, then-Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator John McCain and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
Mr. Halperin is also the creator and author of TIME.com’s news and analysis tip sheet, “The Page”, where he gathers the latest political stories, video clips, campaign ads and breaking news as well as offering his own analysis of the events of the day. Prior to joining TIME, Mr. Halperin worked for ABC News for nearly 20 years, where he covered five presidential elections and served as political director for 10 years. He regularly appears on camera offering his analysis of political events, contributing commentary and reporting during election night coverage, presidential inaugurations and State of the Union speeches.
Other speakers at The Conference include business consultant and best-selling author Keith McFarland and consumer/health/lifestyle reporter Christine Dumas, M.D. The Conference has become a “must-attend” annual event for members of the dietary supplement industry. It is open to CRN members and non-members.
