LONG BEACH, Calif., October 17, 2006 - BI Nutraceuticals, the leading supplier of quality raw materials and custom blends for 30 years, today announced the availability of two new ingredient offerings, a one percent vitamin B12 stabilized on pharmaceutical grade resin and a vitamin E succinate granular.
Vitamin B12 on resin offers manufacturers improved bioavailability and stability over other B12 ingredient offerings. Because vitamin B12 is easily degraded by stomach acid and other multi-vitamin compounds, many of its benefits are lost to consumers when not stabilized properly. Additionally, B12 can produce B12 analogs when degraded, which compete with real B12 for absorption, disrupt fatty acid biosynthesis and the TCA cycle, as well as harm myelin sheath.
In this formulation from BI, the B12 is absorbed onto resin, which protects it until it reaches the small intestine where it is absorbed by the body. Additionally, this ingredient does not have potentially serious side effects because B12 analogs are not formed during the digestion process.
BI's vitamin E succinate granular ingredient is an ester form of d- alpha-tocopherol or naturally occurring vitamin E. The vitamin E succinate granular offers beneficial oxidative stability and is a free flowing powder that works well on high-speed tablet presses.
Natural vitamin E is extracted from bean and seed oils. It contains one isomer that is identical to that found in nature, allowing it to easily fit with other molecules and be retained by the body. Vitamin E is an essential nutrient and one of the body’s principal fat- soluble antioxidants.
"These new vitamin offerings are strong additions to our trusted line of dietary supplement ingredients, and we are pleased that they are now available to our customers worldwide," stated Matt Phillips, vice president of sales and marketing, BI Nutraceuticals.
