BI Nutraceuticals celebrates 35 years

Company to showcase green tea and chia at IFT.

For 35 years, BI Nutraceuticals has been and continues to be a trusted supplier of raw botanical ingredients, providing guaranteed safe and pure botanicals for food and beverage applications. "Thirty-Five years is an incredible milestone not only for our company, but also for the industry," said George Pontiakos, president of BI Nutraceuticals, "We have tirelessly worked to speak out against the dangers of adulteration and hold ourselves to the highest of standards of quality and purity."

In celebration of BI’s 35th Emerald Anniversary, they will be sampling Sparkling Green Tea, a green tea ginger ale, at booth #1882 at the 2012 IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo in Las Vegas. For more than 4,000 years green tea has been used as both a beverage and in traditional Chinese medicine. Green tea contains salubrious polyhenols, in particular catechins, the most abundant of which is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) that has been shown to promote weight management and overall health.

In addition to the Sparkling Green Tea, brownies and applesauce made with chia will be showcased. Chia seeds deliver the highest levels of total omega-3 fatty acids by weight of any common foods; a complete vegan source of protein; more fiber than common grains; no gluten or cholesterol; and a comprehensive range of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential amino acids. The brownies being showcased have great taste, consistency and mouth feel, without a seed-like texture. They also contain 50 percent less fat than traditional brownies, and deliver 250 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per serving. Adding chia seeds to applesauce provides a unique twist to a common product, and consumers get more nutrients while enjoying a food they have eaten for generations.
