Cactus Botanics Gives Back: Launches Own Relief Effort in Wake of China Quake

SHANGHAI, CHINA – As a measure of national solidarity, empathy and charity, Cactus Botanics has announced successful company-wide fundraising efforts to help fortify relief efforts for those in its nation who were affected by the devastating earthquake in China in early May.

“Although our company and facilities are located in Shanghai and Zhejiang provinces, far away from the ravages and the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred in Western China, we are proudly obligated to demonstrate our support of the people of our great nation,” says Carol Cheow, General Manager.

A staff meeting was held to brainstorm possible relief-effort ideas, Cheow notes. “What to displaced people need along with food and water? We all believed that they likely need clothing. So we purchased and sent hundreds of sets of T-shirts and shorts, in all sizes.”

In addition, staff members wanted to do more. Money was and still is being collected to give to the agencies dispensing care to the families. And, Cactus Botanics executive staff is also raising money to donate for the rebuilding of schools that were destroyed.

“In times of national crisis, we believe in diving right in to help,” Cheow says. “We believe that no life is one lived in isolation, but that we are all connected like threads in the tapestry of life. Giving to help is an honor.”
