Canada's Jamieson Laboratories Achieves Major Breakthrough in Key Asian Markets

TORONTO, Dec. 22 /CNW/ - Jamieson Laboratories, a world leader in the vitamin and nutrition industry, is aggressively pursuing international expansion plans to meet the global needs of its customers. With sales in 45 countries, Jamieson Laboratories is a true Canadian success story: a home grown company that has made its mark on the world stage, and in the Asian market in particular. China is a key target in Jamieson's continuing international expansion plans.

Jamieson entered the Chinese market in 1999 and, in the past three years alone, sales have increased by 322 per cent. Jamieson products are sold along-side major world-class luxury brands in the leading retail outlets and shopping centres, such as the Lufthansa Centre in Beijing.

China is not the only market targeted for expansion. Jamieson has strong distribution in countries across Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, including the Middle East, and a strong presence in Central and South America, including the Caribbean. Future growth plans include Northern Africa and Japan. Jamieson's growth is fuelled in part by two global trends: the aging population's desire to combat the aging process and the emerging trend to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

"Jamieson enjoys a strong relationship with our current distributor in China, whose parent company is one of the largest state-owned business conglomerates," said Bill Tyler, Vice President, Sales, Jamieson Laboratories. "Over the next year, we look forward to strengthening the Jamieson brand name across all regions of China."

Established in 1922, Jamieson Laboratories is Canada's largest manufacturer and distributor of advanced natural health-care products. With over 350 employees, Jamieson's state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing laboratories are located in Windsor, Ontario and Quest's manufacturing facilities in Vancouver, British Columbia. The company is a world leader in the vitamin and nutrition industry, exporting to over 30 countries including the USA, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore.
