MINNEAPOLIS - Cargill Health & Food Technologies (H&FT) will showcase an innovative functional beverage prototype designed to appeal to mainstream health-conscious consumers who are concerned about joint health at the Institute of Food Technologists' 2004 Annual Meeting & Food Expo®, set for July 13-16 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth # 1543.
JointWise™ joint health beverage is made with OptaFlex™ natural chondroitin. Joint pain is the No.1 chronic health condition in the United States, and chondroitin has been identified as a solution to help promote healthy joints. Cargill's OptaFlex™ natural chondroitin has been self-affirmed GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) through an independent panel of scientists and is manufactured using a unique, water-based process that enables great tasting joint healthy consumer products.
“We conducted joint health consumer research that our customers can utilize to enhance their product positioning. Great tasting beverages, such as JointWise™ with OptaFlex™ natural chondroitin, offers a great alternative for those consumers who prefer consuming beverages to taking pills,” said Lee Knudson, OptaFlex™ chondroitin product manager, Cargill H&FT.
“Cargill Health & Food Technologies is excited to premiere this refreshing prototype beverage at a time when consumer acceptance of functional foods and beverages is steadily increasing. To continue to build interest and brand loyalty, it is important that we fulfill the demand with great tasting, premium quality products that deliver what they promise,” said Steve Snyder, vice president of sales and marketing, Cargill H&FT.
