Product concepts emphasize fast growing categories and trends in functional food and beverage industry
CHICAGO - June 30, 2003 - Cargill Health & Food Technologies (H&FT) presents product concepts focusing on women's health, bone health, heart health and energy at the Institute of Food Technologists' Annual Meeting and Food Expo in Chicago, July 13th-16th.
In response to the growing demand by health-conscious consumers for effective, good tasting products, Cargill H&FT has introduced a number of health-promoting ingredients that can be incorporated into a wide variety of functional food and beverage products.
Products displayed at this year's show include a refreshing bone health beverage, Bone Appetit, containing AdvantaSoy™ isoflavones and Oliggo-Fiber™ inulin; a fitness water containing Ascend™ trehalose; and Dulce de Latte, a pleasant-tasting caramel flavored soy-based beverage containing AdvantaSoy™ isoflavones, Oliggo-Fiber™ inulin, and Prolisse™ soy protein isolate. Additional product categories including cereals, bars and dairy products will also feature Cargill H&FT ingredients.
“We expect the beverage category to explode in the next few years,” said Jim Kappas, director of sales & marketing for Cargill H&FT. “Taste and convenience are essential. We are excited to show that with better ingredients we can broaden the scope of product possibilities,” he said.
“Now more than ever, consumers are looking for natural options to maintain their health,” said Kappas. “Our product concepts showcase how our health-promoting ingredients can be a simple and delicious part of a healthy diet. Cargill has a vast array of resources to offer its customers to help design products that meet the consumers' needs,” he added.
