MINNEAPOLIS – Cargill has announced that it is expanding its partnership with L.V. Lomas Limited to include distribution of its Oliggo-Fiber™ inulin products in Canada. L.V. Lomas already distributes many of Cargill’s texturizers and specialty sweeteners in the Canadian market. Under this new inulin distribution partnership, L.V. Lomas will manage local Canadian food accounts on Cargill’s behalf.
The announcement follows Health Canada’s recent no-objection letter to Cargill for classification of its Oliggo-Fiber™ inulin as a dietary fibre for labelling purposes in Canada. Derived from chicory roots, Oliggo-Fiber™ inulin is a naturally sourced soluble fibre that adds both functional and nutritional benefits in foods. Oliggo-Fiber™ inulin can assist in optimizing texture in food formulations, and research indicates that inulin may enhance dietary calcium absorption among preteens and postmenopausal women. It has also been shown to have health-promoting prebiotic properties.
