In response to the overwhelming turn out at the 1st Palm Fruit Bioactives workshop at SSW 2010, Carotech Inc has announced that the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) will again be holding the 2nd Palm Fruit Bioactives Workshop in conjunction with the largest health and innovative ingredients event Supply Side West at Las Vegas on October11th, 2011.
This year’s one-day Palm Fruit Bioactives workshop is entitled “Advancing Market Potentials of Palm Bioactives Through Scientific Discoveries.”
Invited speakers include Prof. Chandan Sen of The Ohio State University Medical Center, Dr Dayong Wu of Tufts University, Dr. Kalyana Sundram of MPOC, Mike Danielson of Kocina Marketing and Branding and more; will address the latest science, application strategies and market trends of palm fruit bioactives such as palm tocotrienol complex, palm carotenoids complex as well as water soluble palm phenolics.
“Significant amount of science has emerged for palm based phytonutrients in addressing health and wellness. Technological advancement has also allowed the industry to better utilize these phytonutrients in various product forms under the nutraceutical and cosmeceutical categories. Both palm mixed tocotrienol complex and mixed carotenoids complex are currently self-affirmed GRAS for use in food and drinks. Although palm phenolic compounds are still relatively new, their potential in functional drinks formulation to address specific health areas such as cardiovascular health and skin nutrition are waiting to be explored,” says Dr. Kalyana Sundram, Deputy CEO of MPOC, organizer of the Workshop.
“As of last year, the one-day Palm Fruit Bioactives Workshop will cover latest research and technical updates of palm tocotrienol complex, carotenoids complex and palm polyphenols. We will also look into market trends and application potentials of these phytonutrients. We look forward to meeting with manufacturers from the nutraceuticals, foods & drinks and cosmeceuticals industries- to share and learn together about these novel palm bioactives. ” Dr. Sundram added.
“We are excited to be able to once again assist the Malaysian Palm Oil Council in organizing this one day workshop at the SupplySide West Expo. A new line up of experts will be presenting latest scientific update – particular human clinical trials outcomes, and application capabilities of palm tocotrienol complex, palm carotenoids complex, and palm polyphenols. We invite researchers, formulators, manufacturers of dietary supplements, functional food and drinks, as well as personal care products to join us and find out how to formulate new product concepts with these palm bioactives,” says Bryan See, Regional Product Manager of Carotech Inc.
