Carrington Laboratories Appoints William Carrion VP, Operations

  • Veteran Plant Executive to Direct Further Enhancements to Manufacturing, Packaging, Distribution Operations

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Carrington Laboratories, Inc. (Nasdaq: CARN) today announced that William Carrion, whose 17 years of experience includes key manufacturing positions with major pharmaceutical and consumer products corporations, has been appointed vice president, operations. Carrion, 41, will be in charge of manufacturing, contract manufacturing, packaging, distribution and maintenance at Carrington's Irving, Texas, facility.

"We expect William to continue enhancing the effectiveness, throughput and cost efficiency of our operations in Texas," said Carlton E. Turner, president and chief executive officer. "He has a long history of demonstrated success in cost and efficiency improvements, inventory control, project management, team building, new product introductions and meeting deadlines."

Carrion has held plant management or engineering positions with Colgate-Palmolive, Procter and Gamble, Bristol-Meyers Squibb and Eli Lilly. Most recently, Carrion was director of manufacturing for Cytosol Laboratories Inc.of Braintree, Massachusetts, a developer and manufacturer of products used in blood preservation and rejuvenation of blood. Prior to that he was plant manager for Millipore Corporation of Bedford, Massachusetts, which develops and manufactures membrane products used in medical devices, bioprocess purification and microelectronics gases purification.

He has a master of business administration degree in management, cumlaude, from Universidad del Turabo in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico inMayguez.
