IRVING, Texas, Sep 9, 2004 -- Carrington Laboratories, Inc., (CARN) announced it has completed the building of its new marketing and product development team in support of the Company's commitment to the specialty manufacturing division and continued long-term growth in its core market segments. The team is joined by Melanie Valdez, formerly the marketing and product development manager for Creative Beauty Innovations, Inc. (CBI), a privately-held manufacturer of skin and cosmetic products whose Custom Manufacturing Division was purchased by Carrington in December 2002. Ms. Valdez will work in conjunction with Humayoun Akhter, Ph.D., who recently joined Carrington as director, research and development in support of the Company's specialty manufacturing business.
Carlton E. Turner, Carrington's president and CEO, stated, "Consumer demand for new and innovative skin and body care products is strong and is likely to grow significantly with an upturn in the economy. We expect the synchronized industry talents represented by Ms. Valdez and Dr. Akhter to yield novel and exciting product creations for both our private label manufacturing business and for our own AloeCeuticals(R) and Carrasyn(R) brand product lines. Both team members offer considerable expertise in conceptualizing new products and successfully taking them all the way from concept to market. We feel we are well-positioned for a successful year in 2005."
The Company has also realigned roles and responsibilities within the organization to bring more sales support to the division and enhance strategic marketing capabilities. Marketing will head up long-term strategic business planning, brand management, product development and advertising activities.
"It is essential to provide superior sales support to our customers so we may help guarantee their viability and achieve the level of customer satisfaction we desire," Dr. Turner added. "We also need to have a long-term futuristic perspective that drives our global business planning and strategic marketing initiatives."
