Chr. Hansen sells Excipients & Coating Division

Today Chr. Hansen and Colorcon Inc. announced the sale of Chr. Hansen's Excipients & Coating Division to Colorcon. The transaction includes the product lines of coatings, compressible sugar, compressible calcium carbonate and sugar spheres, as well as the production facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin, USA.

"As we continue to review our business strategies with a determined focus on growth in the areas of Cultures & Enzymes, Colors and Flavors, we realized that the Excipients & Coating Business was not within these core product areas," says Lars Frederiksen, President and CEO of Chr. Hansen A/S. "Thus, we decided to divest the Excipients & Coating Business in order to further strengthen our expertise in developing and supplying cultures, dairy enzymes, natural colors and flavors to the food and nutritional industries."

William Motzer, Colorcon President and CEO states: "We're excited about this
opportunity to expand Colorcon's product offerings and leverage our global
distribution, technical service, and sales infrastructure."

The sales price is not disclosed.
