Cincinnati, OH -- April 12, 2004--The Cognis Group, a global leader in specialty chemicals and nutritional ingredients, has appointed Paul S. Allen as President of its U.S. subsidiary, Cognis Corporation. At the same time, Gregory E. Pflum is named Chief Administration Officer.
In his role as President, Allen becomes legal head of Cognis Corporation, while retaining his existing responsibilities as global leader of the Cognis Nutrition & Health business unit. Paul reports to Cognis Group CEO, Antonio Trius, who is based at the company’s world headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In his 25 years of service with Cognis, and predecessor companies, Allen has successfully fulfilled a variety of management positions in Europe and North America. He has spent the last 13 years in the USA and assumed global responsibility for Nutrition & Health in January 2002. Allen is a member of Cognis Group’s Executive Committee. He holds a First Class bachelor’s degree from the University of Bath in England and also attended the Free University of Berlin. He resides in Indian Hill with his wife. They have two sons.
Greg Pflum joined Cognis 15 years ago. Having distinguished himself in a series of manufacturing management and materials management positions, Pflum was elevated to the North American Senior Management Team as Director of Supply Chain Management in 2002.
As CAO for Cognis Corporation, Pflum is based in the Cincinnati office, reporting to Paul Allen. He is responsible for all functions supporting Cognis’ businesses in North America, including legal services, finance, human resources, corporate operations, information technology and communications. Pflum continues as leader of Supply Chain Management in North America.
Pflum holds a Masters Degree in Operations Management from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University.
He resides in the West Chester area with his wife and three children.
