Cognis Nutrition & Health Names New Market Development Manager As It Enhances Focus on Functional Foods and Food Technology

December 16, 2003, LaGrange, IL— Cognis Nutrition and Health, a global leader in the manufacture and innovation of nature-based ingredients and application technology for health and food products, is proud to announce that Scott Backman joins Cognis as Market Development Manager—Functional Food and Food Technology. Scott will be responsible for developing and growing the food market segments for the Nutrition & Health business unit in the United States.

Mr. Backman brings 17 years experience selling and marketing specialty ingredients to major food producers worldwide. Most recently he was Senior Account Manager for Sensient Colors in St. Louis, Mo. “Scott has the smarts and the drive based on his well-rounded expertise in sales, marketing and management to help Cognis expand upon its business in the food industry,” said David Eckert, Cognis’ Business Director in North America. “Cognis is a well-recognized name in the European food industry and now Scott will help lead our efforts in the U.S. so we can offer companies here our decades of experience in adding wellness ingredients to foods.”

Scott Backman is a graduate of Central Michigan University and is a member of the Chicago Drug and Chemical Association, and the Institute of Food Technologists.
