<p><span class="subheadline"><strong>India facility earns GMP certification</strong></span><br> Sabinsa Corp's manufacturing facility in Bangalore, India, has achieved GMP registration through NSF International's Dietary Supplement Certification programme. While Sabinsa has six manufacturing facilities, approximately 90 per cent of its nutritional ingredients are produced in this GMP-certified facility. In addition, the company inaugurated new corporate headquarters in East Windsor, NJ. The 33,800-square-foot building, which was previously a pharmaceutical R&D facility, provides expanded office and warehouse space.</p> <p><span class="subheadline"><strong>Solae compiles ethical firms list</strong></span><br> Solae LLC, a world leader in soy ingredients for nutritious great-tasting products, has been recognised by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the World's Most Ethical (WME) Companies for 2010. This is the fourth year Ethisphere &#8212; a think tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability &#8212; has published the WME rankings, which appear in Ethisphere magazine's Q1 issue. Ethisphere reviewed thousands of nominations from companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries in order to determine the winners. Solae is on the list with other companies in the food industry, such as Campbell Soup Co, PepsiCo and General Mills.</p> <p><span class="subheadline"><strong>Lallemand offers production service</strong></span><br> Lallemand Inc is offering its expertise in bacteria development and industrial production to the animal and human health, food and pharmaceutical industries with the launch of Lallemand Manufacturing Services. The group offers freeze-dried bacteria produced to the highest quality standards (ISO 9001, FAMI-QS, HACCP and ICHQ7A up to GMP Pharma for finished-product compliance). In addition, it offers access to the company's patented technology platforms for the protection of live bacteria for specific applications: STAR enterocoating technology and Probiocap micro-encapsulation technology.</p> <p><span class="subheadline"><strong>China expansion for L-Carnitine</strong></span><br> Lonza has expanded its capacities for Carnipure and Carniking, L-Carnitine products. The new capacity will be added to Lonza's existing facilities in Nansha, located in China's southern province of Guangdong. In Nansha, Lonza currently operates a fully integrated site with state-of-the-art facilities for Nicotinates (vitamin B3), as well as small and large scale cGMP production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). In addition, R&D services are supported by 70 scientists working in a 1000 m2 lab. These facilities have been successfully audited by numerous customers.</p> <p><span class="subheadline"><strong>CRN grows with new members</strong></span><br> The Council for Responsible Nutrition trade association has added three new members to its roster. These are voting member DreamPak of Alexandria, Virginia; associate members American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation of Austin, Texas; and RNI Consulting of New York. DreamPak develops innovations for the global nutraceutical market with single-serve products. RNI (Regulations Nutrition International) Consulting offers global expertise for the international regulatory requirements of food supplements, dietary products and health products. With offices in France and Switzerland, as well as a domestic headquarters in New York City, the RNI Consulting team offers experts in nutrition, health, consumer law and international law.</p> <p><span class="subheadline"><strong>Milk Specialties Global buys facility</strong></span><br> Milk Specialties Global acquired the Protient Dairy Processing Facility in Norfolk, Nebraska, from PGP International. The Norfolk facility is capable of producing a wide variety of milk products including lactose, cream, milk proteins, whey proteins and hydrolysates. The facility will enhance Milk Specialties Global Food Solutions' position as a major supplier to the sports nutrition, health and wellness, and infant formula markets. Milk Specialties Global Food Solutions is a manufacturer and marketer of specialty nutritional proteins including specialty milk and whey proteins.</p> <p><span class="subheadline"><strong>Gaia Herbs named 'industry leader'</strong></span><br> Gaia Herbs received the American Herbal Products Association's "Herbal Industry Leader" award for 2010. Gaia Herbs is a certified organic grower and manufacturer of liquid herbal extracts based in western North Carolina. The company cultivates 250 acres of medicinal herbs that are organically certified each year by Oregon Tilth under USDA's National Organic Program.</p>
