Conference puts Naturally Boulder on Map

Boulder, CO The second annual Naturally Boulder Day entrepreneur’s conference, held Oct. 20, had 360 people in attendance from the Boulder area and from around the country. The conference more than doubled attendance in its second year, attracting natural and organic products entrepreneurs and industry leaders from the region and nation.

“Naturally Boulder is a unique public-private economic development initiative supported by the City of Boulder and promoting the growth of natural and organic products in the Boulder region. The annual Naturally Boulder conference provides a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn how to build sales, interact with peers, and gain access to successful industry veterans who serve as teachers and mentors. By drawing from the region and country the conference also puts Boulder squarely on the map as the gateway to the natural products industry,” said conference director and Naturally Boulder Board member Steve Hoffman, whose company, Compass Natural, produced the event.

The event enjoyed tremendous support from local businesses attracting 57 sponsors from a field of more than 150 natural and organic products companies in the area. Mayor Mark Ruzzin and City Manager Frank Bruno addressed the gathering, expressing the city’s support of the $4-billion local natural and organic products industry. With Boulder serving as a hub for the $51.4 billion natural food industry, the conference had an impressive supply of inspiring speakers. Rick Sterling, founder of the Sterling-Rice Group, a full service brand-building agency serving the natural and mainstream food industry, gave the keynote address that went beyond offering branding guidance to encourage the industry to become a national leader of charitable giving. Steve Demos, founder of White Wave Foods, Mel Coleman, Chairman of Coleman Natural Foods, and Loretta Zapp, co-founder of Caffe Sanora, participated in an authentic leadership seminar offering examples of how they have successfully wed their ideals to sound business practices.
