Continuously Distilled MSM Now Available From Cardinal Nutrition

VANCOUVER, Wash., October 21, 2005— Cardinal Nutrition, the world’s leading manufacturer of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), announced that its continuously distilled MSM in larger lots is now available for purchase.

The release of the continuously distilled MSM is the culmination of more than a year of plant expansion and improvements. Cardinal Nutrition hopes that its continuously distilled premium MSM in larger lots will create efficiencies down through the purchasing and product analytical chain, ultimately saving its customers time and money.

“A stringent equivalency verification study protocol was employed, requiring dozens of consecutive lots to meet each of 24 individual quality specifications,” said Rod Benjamin, director of quality control. “We undertook this rigorous study to ensure that the high quality and consistency of OptiMSM would not be affected by the process change,” he said.

Cardinal Nutrition’s process enhancement has been driven in part by intensified consumer demand for joint health supplements, due to prescription drug recalls and overseas raw material supply shortages. “We believed that for many of our customers, analytical costs are expected to significantly increase when the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are implemented,” said David Lakey, president. “Therefore, in preparation for the proposed regulation, we implemented continuous distillation and larger lot size to improve our customers’ production efficiencies.”
